Features

  • Version

    Powder-coated aluminium in black

Bar and spot are powder-coated aluminium in black. Against a dark ceiling the luminaire is barely noticeable. The white version has the same dimensions, the same GU10 socket and the same mounting. 5-year warranty.

  • Installation

    Surface mounted on the ceiling, bar 128 × 42 × 18 mm

You screw the bar straight onto the ceiling, on a solid or a hollow substrate; no recess or cut-out is needed. The bar is 18 mm thick and the whole 148 mm high — on the straight Tuup Slim that is 30 mm and 161 mm. The spot sits to one side of the bar. The spot turns and tilts. Fixings and the manual are in the box.

  • Tube

Tube Ø42 × 114 mm, comes off without tools

The tube pulls off its spot. That is how you change the GU10 lamp without taking the luminaire apart, and the spot stays aimed where you set it. The same move swaps the tube for one in brushed brass, brushed bronze or gun metal — the separate Tuup Slim Tube, one per spot, not supplied.

Application

Asymmetric surface spotlight, one GU10 spot, 128 mm bar, black

The Tuup Slim Asym 1 is the smallest of the asymmetric range: a 128 mm bar, one spot, and that spot sits off centre. That is a design choice. The bar is 42 mm wide, exactly the size of the tube, so the tube overhangs nowhere and the whole reads as one continuous line against the ceiling — at 18 mm the flattest bar in the Tuup Slim range.

The luminaire connects directly to 230V mains with no driver and is rated IP20, Class I: indoor and dry only. The spot has a GU10 socket for a 35 mm LED lamp (MR11); output, colour temperature and beam angle come from the lamp you choose, not from the luminaire. The same bar comes with two spots (220 mm) and with three spots (305 mm).

Frequently asked questions

Questions we are regularly asked about this fixture and its variants.

What is the difference from the straight Tuup Slim 1?

The look. On the straight one the spot sits on the axis of a 175 × 32 mm bar and the Ø42 mm tube overhangs on both sides. On the Asym 1 the spot sits off centre on a 128 × 42 mm bar — the same width as the tube, so the line stays closed. The asymmetric bar is also flatter: 18 mm against 30, and 148 mm of projection against 161.

How high does the luminaire sit below the ceiling?

148 mm in total, from the ceiling plane. The bar itself is 18 mm thick and 42 mm wide; the tube below it measures Ø42 × 114 mm. For comparison, the straight Tuup Slim has a 30 mm bar and is 161 mm high.

What lamp does this luminaire take?

One GU10 lamp, ordered separately: an LED spot with a 35 mm reflector — the size the trade calls MR11. The same bar comes with two spots (220 mm) and with three spots (305 mm).

Can the finish be changed later?

The bar stays white or black — that is the version you order. The tube does come off: they are sold separately as the Tuup Slim Tube in brushed brass, brushed bronze and gun metal, and there is a gold insert for the light opening. Allow one; those parts are not in the box.

Does the black version give less light?

No. The light comes from the GU10 lamps you choose yourself, and those are not supplied. The colour of the powder coating does not change the output — black and white give the same figures with the same lamps. What black does is make the 128 mm bar less noticeable against a dark ceiling.
