Features

  • Powder-coated aluminium in black

Flange, housing and tube are powder-coated aluminium in black, inner ring included. The white version has the same dimensions and the same cut-out. Five-year warranty.

  • Semi-recessed in a Ø38 mm cut-out

You drill a Ø38 mm hole; the torsion springs clamp the spotlight behind the board. It needs 32 mm of clearance above the ceiling, leaves 122 mm below it, and the Ø46 mm flange covers the edge of the hole. Unlike the rest of the Tuup Slim range this spotlight is Class II: you connect N and L only.

  • Tube Ø42 × 114 mm, slides off without tools

The tube slides off the spot. That is how you fit the GU10 lamp without taking the spotlight out of the ceiling. The same movement swaps the tube for one in brushed brass, brushed bronze or gun metal — the separate Tuup Slim Tube, one per spotlight, not supplied.

Application

Semi-recessed spotlight with one GU10 socket, Ø38 mm cut-out, black

The Tuup Slim Semi-recessed spotlight is the only one in the range that partly disappears into the ceiling. There is 32 mm above the board and 122 mm below it; the other Tuup Slims screw fully onto the ceiling. The tube is the same Ø42 × 114 mm.

The spotlight connects directly to 230V mains without a driver, rated IP20 and Class II: indoor and dry only, and it must not be covered with insulating material. The spot has a GU10 socket for a 35 mm LED lamp (MR11); luminous flux, light colour and beam angle depend on the lamp you choose. The lamp in the photographs is not part of the delivery.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we are regularly asked about this fixture and its variants.

What is the difference from the other Tuup Slim spots?

This one partly disappears into the ceiling. The other Tuup Slims screw fully onto the ceiling, on a bar or a plate; this one is mounted in a Ø38 mm cut-out and projects 122 mm below the ceiling. Socket and tube are the same. One difference matters when wiring: this spot is Class II, the others are Class I.

What kind of ceiling does the spot need, and what cut-out?

A hollow ceiling board, plasterboard for instance. You drill a Ø38 mm hole; the torsion springs open out behind the board and pull the Ø46 mm flange tight against the ceiling. The spotlight needs 32 mm of clearance above the board. Do not cover it with insulating material.

How many GU10 lamps does the spotlight need?

One. You order it separately: a GU10 LED lamp with a 35 mm reflector diameter — the size the trade calls MR11. The tube slides off, so you fit the lamp without taking the spotlight out of the ceiling. The lamp in the photographs is not part of the delivery.

Can the finish be changed later?

The flange and the housing stay white or black — that is the version you order. The tube does slide off: available separately as the Tuup Slim Tube in brushed brass, brushed bronze and gun metal, and there is a gold insert around the light opening. Count one per spotlight; those parts are not in the box.

Does the black version give as much light as the white one?

Yes. The light comes from the GU10 lamp you choose yourself; it is not part of the delivery. The colour of the powder-coated aluminium changes nothing about that. Black only makes the Ø46 mm flange less visible against a dark ceiling finish.
